Review: “Fabulous Bodies”

, pub. , pp

Ok, I really liked “Camp Damascus”, but this book is wild in comparison. It’s a gore-soaked van ride, which is definitely not what I expected. “Camp Damascus” was so tame in comparison.

I told the owner of the shop’s husband that the antagonist of the book is ‘like a zombie Elton John’. He responded with, “Sir Elton, who are you wearing?” The joke wasn’t too far off.

Beyond his imagination, one of the things I love about Chuck Tingle is his cinematic style of writing. Despite the bizarre subject matter, his characters are always believable. His pacing through plot rarely leave me in a lull, and his descriptions are always strong enough to drop me dead center in the scene with me realizing that I’m currently reading a book. He’s a gat dang magician, transcending film and literature.

The story is far from complicated, so if you’re looking for a highbrow character piece, this ain’t it. If you’re a horror/thriller fan, looking for something quick to breeze through, and are a little bit queer, I highly recommend it.
