our Behavior Will Be Monitored by Justin Feinstein is an unsettling meditation on surveillance, control, and the subtle ways modern systems shape human behavior. Grounded in psychological tension and speculative unease, the novel feels timely and uncomfortably close to our current reality.
While the themes are compelling, I wasn’t entirely sold on the execution. The writing style didn’t always work for me, often feeling a bit too restrained or clinical, and the story itself became fairly predictable as it progressed. Several plot developments unfolded much as expected, which dulled some of the tension the premise initially promised.
That said, the book’s strength lies in its ideas rather than its surprises. Feinstein’s exploration of constant monitoring, self-censorship, and the internal cost of being watched is thoughtful and effective, even when the narrative beats feel familiar. The atmosphere of quiet dread lingers, and the questions it raises about autonomy and identity are difficult to shake.
Despite my reservations, I would still recommend Your Behavior Will Be Monitored to readers who enjoy cerebral, concept-driven speculative fiction and psychological dystopias. If you’re drawn to thought-provoking themes over unpredictable plotting, this book is likely to resonate.
