I’d love it if these found a good home. Two of them are in rough condition as to their spines, but they’re so cool and beautiful anyway. Please comment here or send email to starcatbooks@starcatbooks.com if you are interested in these!

TOMMY TIPTOE, Harriet Ide Eager, 1924, Alfred A. Knopf, hardcover
1st printing, 1st ed. In poor condition: dirt to cover, bumping, spine deteriorated, boards separated from spine. Pages still clear — charming and beautiful full color illustrations throughout. A delightful collector’s item, even in this condition.

EMILY OF THE NEW MOON, L.M. Montgomery, 1923, Frederick A. Stokes.
1st thus for Stokes edition. Color board for front cover, color plate inside. Inscription in front. Binding is broken in several places, all pages are attached. Rear hinge is cracked. Tape on front hinge inside, loose hinge. Some scratching to front cover. Bumping on corners and spine. Pages clear and unmarked; attached clearly to spine. Deckled edges on pages. This is a beautiful book despite spine condition, especially the front cover (please see photo), which is stunning even with the slight scratching.

McGUFFEY’S FIRST ECLECTIC READER, Revised Edition, 1907, American Book Company
1907 edition revised by H. H. Wail for its “Suggestions to Teachers” page, from the 1896 edition, American Book Company. Oversize type for children. Illustrations throughout. “Slate work” & phonetically spelled out words for each reading lesson. Some crayon markings on inside front and back boards. An ex libras sticker on inside front board for an “H.J. and Helen E. Shoemaker.” Lovely little reading book in excellent condition considering its age. The “good” condition is for its bumping to the cover: inside is crisp and clean, and the spine is tight. Charming book.

EARLY MEMORIES FOR THE CHILDREN, BY THE AUTHOR OF TOM BROWN’S SCHOOL DAYS, Thomas Hughes, 1899, Thomas Burleigh, hardcover.
This one is a seriously RARE BOOK. Poor spine, hand-cut, brittle pages. Other listings of this book state that only 5 copies of this book are known to be extant and in uncirculated condition. This was published privately after Hughes’ death, presumably for family members (title page states “for private circulation only”). Inside cover name of owner stated as “Walter J. M. Hughes” who lived in London in 1943 and put his name on the front end paper.
